Tidalis at ASEAN Ports and Logistics 2026
Three days in Kuala Lumpur, one clear theme across the ASEAN region: ports that run smarter and cleaner. Here is what stayed with us.
At Tidalis, Cato is responsible for all our marketing efforts globally.
ASEAN Ports and Logistics 2026 has wrapped up, and it was a valuable few days. Held from 7 to 9 July at the Sofitel Kuala Lumpur Damansara and opened by Malaysia’s Minister of Transport, Anthony Loke, the event brought together more than 300 delegates from across the region: port authorities, terminal operators, shipping lines, technology providers, and government. The program was full, the questions were sharp, and the ambition was shared. Ports across ASEAN want to run smarter and cleaner, and they want practical ways to get there.
That ambition ran through the conference themes, from smart port development and supply chain digitalization to the decarbonization of the maritime industry. It is the same challenge Tidalis works on every day with port and coastal authorities: how to move more traffic, more safely, with less waste.
During his session on vessel traffic management and port management, our colleague Pieter van Vrijberghe de Coningh shared an insight that stuck with the room:
“Preventing congestion by better planning of vessel transit speeds and arrivals, optimizing the full logistic chain is the obvious way for reducing cost and greenhouse gas emissions.”
It is a reminder that sustainability gains do not always come from major investment. Often they come from looking more closely at the processes already in place. When vessel traffic services, port management, and arrival planning all work from the same picture, ships spend less time waiting, berths are used more efficiently, and fuel and emissions fall as a result. We explored that idea in more depth in our recent insight on just-in-time arrival.
We were glad to share it in good company. Over the three days we spoke with peers and partners from across the region, including a conversation with Josef Wong, CEO of PINC Technology, and with Malaysia’s Minister of Transport, Anthony Loke, during the event.
Thank you to everyone who stopped by Stand 24, and to the organizers for hosting a great conference. If you would like to continue the conversation, explore how Tidalis approaches smart, sustainable ports, or see where we exhibited on our ASEAN Ports and Logistics 2026 event page.
See you at the next edition.
