Tidalis at ASEAN Ports and Logistics 2026 | A greener port starts with what is already there

Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), 9 July 2026 – Tidalis exhibited at ASEAN Ports and Logistics 2026, held from 7 to 9 July at the Sofitel Kuala Lumpur Damansara. Over three days of conference sessions and conversations at Stand 24, one shared ambition stood out across the ASEAN region: ports that run smarter and cleaner.

Greener ports without new infrastructure

Ports across Southeast Asia are under growing pressure to operate faster, cleaner and smarter. But the answer is not always new infrastructure. Often, it starts with making better use of what is already there, and that is where vessel traffic management comes in.

On Thursday 9 July, Pieter van Vrijberghe de Coningh, Managing Director APAC at Tidalis, spoke in Session 4: “Technology Innovations in Improving Maritime Operations Efficiency and Reducing Carbon Emissions.” His presentation addressed a question that is becoming more relevant as ASEAN ports push forward on decarbonization and operational efficiency: how can vessel traffic management and port management contribute to a greener port?

Planning arrivals, cutting emissions

During the session, Pieter shared an insight that resonated with the audience:
“Preventing congestion by better planning of vessel transit speeds and arrivals, and optimizing the full logistics chain, is the obvious way to reduce cost and greenhouse gas emissions.”

It is a reminder that sustainability gains do not always come from major investment. Often, they come from looking more closely at the processes already in place.

When ports can see and coordinate vessel movements, they can plan transit speeds and arrival times more precisely. This means less time waiting at anchor, less unnecessary fuel burn and a smoother flow through the port. Tidalis supports this through its:
