A distinctive aspect of this role is the continuous development and application of maritime domain knowledge. You will gain a deep understanding of maritime operations, user workflows, regulatory requirements, and safety-critical environments, and use this knowledge to deliver reliable, scalable, and secure platform solutions.

Platform Engineers are involved throughout the entire platform lifecycle. As you progress in your career, the role requires increasing levels of technical expertise, ownership, leadership, autonomy, and maritime domain mastery.

  • Embed security and compliance into platform services through cloud security best practices, secrets management, and access controls.
  • Monitor, manage, and optimize cloud spending through FinOps practices.
  • Contribute to incident response, root cause analysis, and the continuous improvement of platform reliability.
  • Collaborate closely with Product Management, Architecture, Software Engineering, and customer-facing teams.
  • Take ownership of platform services throughout their entire lifecycle, from design and implementation to operation and optimization.
  • Continuously expand your understanding of maritime processes, users, and industry standards.
  • Senior level: Own complex platform domains end-to-end and help define the technical direction of the platform landscape.

What do you bring?

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.

  • Hands-on experience building and operating cloud-native, containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Solid understanding of microservices, APIs, distributed systems, and event-driven architectures in production environments.
  • Familiarity with reliability engineering and software delivery practices, including automated testing, SLOs/SLIs, and incident management.
  • Excellent communication skills and fluency in Dutch and English, both written and spoken.
  • Experience within the maritime domain is considered an advantage; however, a willingness and ability to acquire maritime domain knowledge is essential.

Platform & Infrastructure Expertise

  • Experience with public cloud platforms such as AWS and/or Microsoft Azure.
  • Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or ARM/Bicep.
  • Strong understanding of cloud networking, storage, compute services, and platform architecture.
  • Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Prometheus, CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, or similar solutions.
  • Experience designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and platform automation capabilities.
  • Strong understanding of cloud security principles, identity and access management, and security best practices.
  • Experience with cloud cost optimization and FinOps practices is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Python and Bash scripting; experience with Go (Golang) is considered a plus.
